Welcome to the Twelfth Phase of Our Virtual Meditation Challenge!
In this phase, we turn our attention inward in a more subtle way, not only observing thoughts, but gently inquiring into where thoughts actually arise. Before a thought becomes fully formed, there is a brief moment of emergence from silence. By resting awareness at this source, we begin to recognize the mind’s natural clarity even more directly.
Through meditation, we will explore:
● How to notice the very first appearance of a thought before it becomes language or story.
● How to observe the space in which thoughts arise, exist, and dissolve.
● How to rest in the awareness that is present before mental labeling begins.
● How thoughts naturally emerge and subside without needing to be controlled or analyzed.
Thoughts do not appear randomly or separately from awareness, they arise within it, like ripples forming on a still surface. Instead of following the content of thinking, we gently turn toward the origin point itself. In doing so, the usual identification with thoughts begins to loosen on its own.
As we sit quietly, body still, speech silent, mind open, we may begin to notice a quieter dimension of experience that is always already present. This practice supports a subtle shift from being absorbed in thought to recognizing the field in which all thoughts arise, revealing a more spacious and effortless sense of presence.
