Can I use my Apple Mac to run Spooky2? 8

In theory, yes, you can by using BootCamp to create a Windows partition, or purchasing virtualization software. In practice, however, we’ve found that the more layers of abstraction you add to any system, the more likely it is that problems will arise. And unless you’re a seasoned Mac and Windows troubleshooter, you may find that tracking causes and finding solutions is more trouble than it’s worth.

We recommend that you buy a cheap Windows netbook or used desktop model, and dedicate it to running your Spooky2 system.

However, if you wish to try the Mac route, please download the document “Spooky2 in Linux or Mac” from here: http://www.spooky2.com/downloadsPage/index.html

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10 can be used for Spooky2 now.

  1. It seems a Mac is not really ideal for running Spooky. You can of course run boot camp but then you are stuck with a crappy windows operating system that’s just the pits. I bought a professional windows machine for my running of Spooky and have struggled to get by so much so that I’m at the point of binning the lot. As I understand it Spooky was designed on a Mac but converted to a pc at some stage – hows that for brilliant thinking.

    1. Hi, it is better to run on direct windows system. We’ve found that the more layers of abstraction you add to any system, the more likely it is that problems will arise. And unless you’re a seasoned Mac and Windows troubleshooter, you may find that tracking causes and finding solutions is more trouble than it’s worth.

  2. Why haven’t y’all developed a Mac version of the spooky2 software?

Currently, our focus is on ensuring the best possible experience and support for the Windows version of the software.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.

  3. Hi, it´s possible run spooky2 on ipad (apple)? Thanks for de comments.

    1. Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, Spooky2 cannot run directly on an iPad or other iOS devices. Spooky2 software is designed to run on a Windows operating system, and while it is possible to use a Mac with Boot Camp or virtualization software, iPads do not have the necessary environment for running full Windows programs.

For the best experience, we recommend using a Windows-based computer or laptop dedicated to Spooky2. If you need further assistance or have more questions, feel free to ask!

  4. Are you developing a version for Mac or would you consider doing so ? Did not want to purchase a Windows computer that I really do not need to use the machine. Thanks.

    1. Hi Lynn. While we understand your preference, we currently have no plans to develop a Mac version of the Spooky2 Software. Theoretically you can use BootCamp to create a Windows partition or use a virtualization software, though we cannot ensure full compatibility in practice. We recommend buying a cheap Windows laptop and dedicate it to running your Spooky2 system.
