Parosmia refers to the medical condition when someone is experiencing distortions of the sense of smell. People who are suffering from this will be able to detect odours, however, the smell of various things can be wrong, and in most cases, are very unpleasant. These nasty smells are always similar to chemicals, faeces, rotting flesh, and mould. As a result, parosmia can be extremely distressing for the sufferers.
