Commonly we use antibiotics to treat flu and other infections, then our immune system gets weakened and we run the risk of the same bugs returning stronger, with newly mutated abilities that have turned them into “superbugs” .
The immune system is designed to provide a barrier between you and infectious organisms. Our bodies have infection – fighters located in lymph system, spleen, bone marrow, thymus gland, digestive tract and other organs, tissues, special cells, and proteins.
Our immune systems is efficient but due to various external toxins and pollutant influences things can go wrong. Weakened immunity leaves you vulnerable. Ignoring it can cause your immune system to overreact and become self – destructive. This is beginning of autoimmune disorders like M.S., fibromyalgia, lupus and other.
To have healthy immune system you need to provide proper conditions, an environment which is life supporting.
1. Healthy Diet – You are what you eat. If you eat unhealthy, you will be unhealthy – eat a nutritious diet of whole foods (unprocessed and unrefined foods) instead of fast or processed-Fast foods and processed foods contain toxic chemical ingredients that your immune system often recognizes as foreign invaders. This overestimation of the immune system can sometimes trigger autoimmune reactions in the body. Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fatty acids are all important nutrients that are essential for immune function. Start preparing your meals from scratch. Eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables and stay away from sugar. Sugar strips your immune system leaving it weak and vulnerable! Dark – colored produce (berries, kale, broccoli) tends to be higher in flavonoids, polyphenols and other antioxidants. Just make sure you eat a little saturated fat from butter or coconut oil with those veggies, so you can absorb all their nutrients.
2. Preventing Dehydration – drink plenty of clean, filtered water;Millions of people are in a state of dehydration on a daily basis and don’t even know it. Inadequate water intake prevents the body from eliminating toxins from the body. This leaves these toxins in the body circulating in the system which causes even more damage.Water also helps to oxygenate our blood, which keeps our immune cells strong and healthy. It is also a crucial part of keeping our lymph system working. The lymph system is important for circulating white bloods from the thymus throughout the body to remove toxins from the blood. Always check your urine color. If it is dark or bright yellow, you aren’t drinking enough water. Your urine should be light yellow or clear. Staying hydrated will also help you sleep better and increase your energy during the day.
3. Sun Exposure – Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins for our immune system.Vitamin D is vital for the function of immune cells in our body. T cells cannot activate and kill pathogen cells without the presence of vitamin D. Many people feel tired, sluggish, and have depleted immune systems simply from a lack vitamin D. Boosting vitamin D levels is as easy as going out into the sun for 20 minutes a day with exposed skin. You can also take vitamin D3 during the winter months for an extra boost.
4. Shelter yourself – If you’re starting to feel run down or sick from stress, opt out of all stressful situations for a few days. This holds true for work, home, or physical stress. Your body is telling you that you need to take some time for yourself. The world will not fall apart, and you’ll be stronger and ready to take on more once you’re well.
5. Adequate Sleep – Sleep more than you ever have. get at least eight hours of sleep each night, best is from 10 pm; but you can start with giving yourself 10 hours of sleep for three to five days once every month. If you have insomnia, then a little warm cow’s milk (which provides relaxing amino acids) or some magnesium drink can quickly and gently ensure you get a good night of rest.
6. Exercise Increasing your heart rate during exercise also helps to raise your core body temperature. This raise in body temp can kill bacteria or viruses in the body. Exercise’s ability to lower stress in the body is also a fantastic reason to adopt the habit of physical activity.
